Learn about our heritage, mission, values, and the people who make Okengwe Comprehensive College Idoma a beacon of academic excellence in Kogi State, Nigeria.
Okengwe Comprehensive College Idoma — OCCIDOMA — was founded in 1999 with a singular vision: to provide a world-class secondary education to every child in the Okengwe community and beyond. Situated along the Okene-Okengwe road in Okene, Kogi State, Nigeria, we have grown from a modest institution into one of the most respected secondary schools in the region.
We offer a full six-year secondary education programme — Junior Secondary School (JSS1–JSS3) through Senior Secondary School (SS1–SS3) — across Science, Commercial, and Arts streams. We are a co-educational, government-approved institution, committed to the holistic development of every student.
Over 25 years, we have produced hundreds of graduates making meaningful contributions in medicine, engineering, law, business, and public service across Nigeria. Our motto — "Your destiny is not your decision, but your discovery" — guides everything we do.
Our guiding principles shape every classroom interaction, every policy decision, and every relationship we build with students and families.
To provide a holistic, inclusive, and high-quality secondary education that empowers every student — regardless of background — to discover their destiny, develop strong character, and contribute positively to society and the Nigerian nation.
To be the leading comprehensive secondary school in Kogi State — a model institution where academic rigour, technological innovation, and moral integrity converge to produce well-rounded, globally competitive graduates ready for university and beyond.
From a modest beginning to a state-recognised institution of excellence — the defining moments that shaped OCCIDOMA.
OCCIDOMA was established along Okene-Okengwe road with the mission to bring quality education to Okengwe community, initially with three classes and fifteen dedicated staff members.
Our pioneer SS3 class achieved an 87% pass rate in WAEC — a remarkable debut that put OCCIDOMA firmly on the Kogi State academic map.
A major infrastructure investment saw the commissioning of our fully equipped Science Laboratory and first Computer Laboratory, transforming practical education for all students.
OCCIDOMA achieved a landmark 98% pass rate in the 2024 WAEC examinations, with multiple students earning distinctions — placing us among the top secondary schools in Kogi State.
