A rigorous, balanced, and future-focused academic programme aligned with national standards — designed to unlock every student's full potential from JSS1 through SS3.
At OCCIDOMA, our curriculum is carefully designed to meet the standards set by the Federal Ministry of Education and the Kogi State government, while going above and beyond to emphasise critical thinking, digital literacy, character development, and practical skills.
Our school year runs on a three-term system. Each term is packed with structured classroom learning, supervised study periods, laboratory practicals, and co-curricular activities — ensuring students are well-rounded and fully prepared for WAEC, NECO, and university entrance examinations (JAMB/UTME).
Students are assessed continuously through class tests, assignments, mid-term examinations, and end-of-term examinations. Reports are shared with parents each term, and parent-teacher meetings are held to discuss each student's academic progress individually.
Our curriculum spans six major departments — each delivered by specialist, certified teachers who bring both academic expertise and real-world experience to the classroom.
Our science department runs fully practical lessons in a well-equipped laboratory. Students develop genuine experimental skills alongside deep theoretical understanding — essential for WAEC Science practicals and university Science courses.
Mathematics is taught with a focus on building genuine problem-solving ability — from basic arithmetic and algebra in JSS to calculus, statistics, and Further Mathematics at the SS level. Dedicated revision classes are held each term before examinations.
Our Languages department develops confident, articulate communicators. English Language and Literature are compulsory for all students, while French provides a competitive global edge. Fine Arts, Music, and Creative Writing nurture self-expression and cultural appreciation.
The Social Sciences department equips students with a deep understanding of economics, government, geography, and history — forming the foundation for careers in law, politics, business, journalism, and public administration.
Taught in our modern 40-workstation computer laboratory, ICT and Computer Studies give students practical digital skills including word processing, spreadsheets, internet use, and introductory programming — preparing them for a technology-driven economy.
Beyond academics, we invest heavily in character formation, physical health, and spiritual development. Religious and Social Studies classes, physical education, and our entrepreneurship programme ensure every graduate is a responsible, resilient, and self-sufficient individual.
Our intensive examination preparation programme begins from SS1, giving every student a full two-year runway to achieve outstanding results. We provide past question papers, mock examinations, and specialist coaching in every subject.
Our SS3 students sit the WAEC Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE). In 2024, OCCIDOMA recorded a 98% pass rate — one of the highest in Kogi State. Dedicated WAEC revision classes are held every Saturday morning from February onwards.
We also fully prepare students for the NECO SSCE examinations. Having both WAEC and NECO results significantly strengthens a student's university application and broadens their choice of institutions across Nigeria.
Our Form Masters and subject teachers provide supplementary UTME coaching, helping SS3 students register and prepare for JAMB alongside their WAEC studies — with particular focus on the Use of English and subject combination papers.
